Sport for everyone

BTA Daugava Stadium

In November 2023, the reconstruction of the stadium of SIA "National Sports Centre of Latvia" was started. The result of the work carried out is extensive and valuable – going forward, even higher-quality, more modern and broader opportunities for sports events and cultural events are ensured at the national and international level. The stadium and its facilities and services are available both for individual training sessions and for amateur as well as professional sports.

The designed civil engineering solutions for the central sports field comply with the requirements of international sports organizations so that training processes and competitions in athletics, football, rugby and other sports can be held there. The designed solutions for the central sports field also provide the opportunity to organize cultural events, including continuing the tradition of hosting participants of the Latvian Nationwide Song and Dance Festival and the Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival at the stadium. Athletics

Vieglatletikas_Daugavas_stadions_LNSC.jpg

The athletics track lanes and athletics sectors of the central sports field comply with the requirements and conditions of WA (World Athletics) and LVS (Latvian Athletics Association); the designed dimensions of the athletics stadium and sectors comply with the requirements set by WA (World Athletics).

There are 4 long jump/triple jump sectors in the stadium in the area closer to the grandstand spectator zone. It is possible to use 2 sectors simultaneously on one of the sides. The stadium also has 6 pole vault sectors and 2 shot put sectors.  One shot put sector is designed with the possibility to rotate it (the throwing position – the circle) so that the sector can be placed both on a sand–gravel mix surface and on a grass surface. The other sector is designed next to the discus throwing sector with the landing area on the grass. The stadium will also have 1 discus and hammer throwing sector and 2 javelin throwing sectors, one at each end of the field – on the south and north sides. The water jump pit sector is also not forgotten; it is located in the northern part of the stadium (in the semicircle).

Football

The stadium’s central football pitch complies with UEFA stadium infrastructure regulations. The design solutions provide coordinated parameters (dimensions, width) for the football pitch and the athletics track lanes and sectors to ensure the basic requirements for compatibility between the UEFA pitch and WA athletics sectors and track lanes.

On the pitch it is possible to install capsule football and rugby goals, taking into account the requirements for football and rugby pitch dimensions, as well as the locations of corner flags. Three football goals are available for the football pitch, which comply with the EURO goal design and the current UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) Laws of the Game, as well as 2 substitute benches for teams, each with 16 seats, and one covered bench for referees with 4 seats.

The stadium’s natural grass football pitch is equipped with a modern heating system that ensures optimal playing conditions all year round. This means that football matches and training sessions can continue without interruption, regardless of the season.

The stadium’s central grandstand

In May 2018, the reconstruction works of the central grandstands were completed, during which the central grandstand was completely rebuilt and the side grandstands (the South and North grandstands) were newly constructed. The capacity of the grandstands exceeds 10,000 seats. To ensure high-quality sports and cultural events, a new LED scoreboard was installed, a new sound and public address system was set up, and 4 lighting masts were also reconstructed.

The central grandstand building includes multifunctional premises that are used for various office and federation needs. The grandstand also includes two dance halls with special parquet flooring and mirrors at the ends, where training sessions and classes for various dance groups take place daily. The stadium offers modern changing rooms for the needs of various sports events (football, athletics training and competitions), a sauna, shower rooms, a conference hall, and coaches’ rooms.
